Research training meets thirty years of hands-on systems work.

VEDAT was founded in 1992 as an independent IT consultancy in Stockholm. Its founder, Gerd Hagmeyer-Gaverus, is an economist by training who spent much of his career as an empirical social science researcher. He has worked for much of his career as an empirical social scientist at SIPRI—the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, one of Europe’s leading foreign-policy research institutes—where he built the institute’s entire online presence from the ground up and developed large parts of its databases.

That combination is unusual: research training, hands-on systems experience, and three decades of watching how institutions actually adopt — or resist — technology. VEDAT exists because that combination is useful to more than one kind of client, from housing cooperatives untangling an access-control contract to research institutions thinking about early-warning systems.
