Thirty years at the intersection of research and IT.

VEDAT is Gerd Hagmeyer-Gaverus's consultancy in Stockholm — but at heart, he is a researcher. For thirty years he worked in international security and peace research at SIPRI, and it was in that role that he introduced IT — and, in 1994, the internet — to the institute. Throughout his career, he has practiced the connection between social science research and IT, including by building up the institute's fact databases. The consultancy came later, as a continuation of the same work: moving between systems, data, and the institutions that depend on both.
